Waystar Debuts Autonomous AI Agents for Healthcare Revenue Cycles

Waystar has unveiled a suite of agentic tools within its AltitudeAI platform designed to automate complex healthcare payment workflows. By shifting from passive data analysis to autonomous execution, the technology targets administrative bottlenecks in claim resubmission, clinical documentation, and patient financial engagement across its vast network of providers.

The new capabilities leverage a proprietary dataset of 7.5 billion annual transactions, covering roughly 60% of U.S. patients. CEO Matt Hawkins described the shift as a necessary evolution for the revenue cycle, moving beyond mere insight to active resolution. The system now autonomously interprets payer responses to resubmit denied claims, a process that historically required significant manual intervention despite 70% of initial denials being eligible for payment.

Beyond claims, Waystar is deploying conversational AI to allow staff to query operational data using natural language, a move that early adopters report has slashed data analysis time by up to 75%. The company is also integrating agentic workflows into clinical documentation, where AI can synthesize 30,000 data points per record to accelerate specialist reviews by 25%. These tools are being showcased today at the Waystar True North conference, signaling a broader push to reduce the administrative load for the company’s 30,000 clients.
