Since taking the helm of the Sandals Foundation in 2009, Clarke has expanded the organization’s reach across nine island nations. Her work focuses on bridging gaps in education, fostering local economic growth, and managing conservation projects. Under her leadership, the foundation has impacted more than 1.8 million lives, supported 2,600 schools, and mobilized over 32,500 volunteers.
Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, credited Clarke’s success to her ability to lead with purpose and a deep-rooted belief in local potential. The Skift IDEA Awards, now in their eighth year, selected Clarke following an evaluation by an independent panel of travel and hospitality industry leaders. For Clarke, the award represents a collective achievement, reflecting the success of partnerships between governments, nonprofit organizations, and the travel sector in building resilient Caribbean communities.
