New Docuseries Explores Farm-Based Education and Land Stewardship

No desks, no bells, and no tests: a new four-part docuseries titled Farm School’d debuts on YouTube this August. Hosted by Arkansas educator Taylor Moran and underwritten by Kubota North America, the project follows families and students trading traditional classrooms for outdoor, hands-on agricultural learning experiences.

The series documents a growing movement toward farm and forest schooling, where academic concepts merge with daily responsibilities like gardening, animal care, and weather observation. According to Moran, the curriculum focuses on the whole child, aiming to dismantle barriers to entry and provide accessible, nature-based education across diverse neighborhoods.

Industry experts like Dr. Jean Lomino, founder of the Wauhatchie Forest School, argue that these models provide a vital alternative to conventional systems, particularly for students who benefit from movement and curiosity-driven inquiry. The production, helmed by Nashville-based FARMUSE, seeks to demonstrate how these settings foster long-term land stewardship values from a young age.

Kubota’s involvement aligns with the company’s century-long history of supporting land-based communities. Lucas Mack, Senior Director of Brand for Kubota North America, noted that the partnership aims to highlight the educators and families preparing the next generation of farmers, ranchers, and agricultural professionals. The first episode is scheduled for release on August 31.
