Hertz and Verra Mobility Extend Partnership to Modernize Toll Systems

After two decades of collaboration, Hertz and Verra Mobility have inked a five-year contract renewal to overhaul toll processing for the rental giant’s fleet. The agreement shifts the focus toward integrating connected-vehicle data and artificial intelligence to automate administrative tasks across Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty brands.

The Mesa-based Verra Mobility will maintain its role as the primary provider of toll and violation management for Hertz, processing millions of transactions annually. Beyond simply managing existing workflows, the renewed contract tasks both companies with exploring new technology to reduce operational complexity. The goal is a frictionless experience for renters navigating North America’s fragmented, all-electronic tolling networks.

Stacey Moser, chief customer officer at Verra Mobility, stated that the company plans to refine its existing solutions to better align with Hertz’s evolving fleet needs. This comes as the scale of their operations continues to grow, with Verra Mobility reporting over 350 million toll transactions and 5.6 million violations processed for fleet clients in 2025 alone. Jason Rivera, chief technology officer, noted that the next phase of the partnership centers on merging operational experience with AI to address the increasingly complex challenges inherent in managing large-scale, connected vehicle fleets.
