Pomerantz LLP Launches Inquiry into Americold Realty Trust

A 7.84% single-day slide in Americold Realty Trust’s share price has triggered a formal investigation by Pomerantz LLP. The firm is currently probing whether the real estate investment trust or its leadership misled shareholders regarding business practices, following a massive impairment charge linked to a terminated distribution contract.

The scrutiny centers on a July 23, 2026, regulatory filing revealing that Americold reached a wind-down agreement with ADUSA Distribution, a subsidiary of Ahold Delhaize USA. Under this deal, the company abandoned its automated retail distribution center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and scrapped plans to launch a similar facility in Plainville, Connecticut. These projects were specifically designed for ADUSA’s operations.

Management expects to record a non-cash impairment charge between $305 million and $320 million for the second quarter of 2026 as a direct consequence of the contract termination. Investors reacted sharply to the disclosure, driving the stock down by $1.20 to close at $14.10. Pomerantz LLP is now seeking information from shareholders to determine if these events constitute securities fraud or other unlawful conduct.
