The latest drill results provide more than just raw length. Hole MD-070, which returned 771 meters grading 0.54% copper equivalent, successfully tested an area where the company predicted high-grade mineralization. By performing as an infill hole, it effectively bridges the gap between theoretical resource modeling and the physical realities of the site, yielding grades that occasionally outpaced original estimates. Frank Giustra, the company's principal shareholder, noted that the data confirms the continuity necessary for upcoming feasibility studies.
Beyond validating the existing model, hole MD-068 suggests the system is larger than previously mapped. By drilling beneath historical data points, the company encountered strong alteration and denser veining at depth, indicating the potential for a deeper, hotter core. This expansion potential is critical for a project that already holds an Inferred resource of 1.12 billion tonnes. With a C$31 million strategic financing recently closed and an off-take agreement with Trafigura in place, Copper Giant is positioning Mocoa as a long-term supply solution for a market facing a projected 25% shortfall in copper production by 2035. The upcoming preliminary economic assessment, scheduled for the fourth quarter, will now translate these geological successes into a formal mine plan.
