Avenir Minerals Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Agnico Eagle Mines, has invested approximately C$1 million to acquire 666,667 units of Canada Nickel Company Inc. Each unit purchased at C$1.50 consists of one common share and one-half of a common share purchase warrant. These warrants allow the holder to acquire additional shares at C$2.25 over a 36-month period. Following this private placement, Agnico Eagle and its subsidiary now hold 22,467,926 common shares and 8,293,962 warrants. This represents roughly 8.68% of Canada Nickel’s issued common shares on a non-diluted basis and 11.52% on a partially-diluted basis.

The investment is governed by an investor rights agreement established in December 2023. Under these terms, Agnico Eagle maintains the right to participate in future equity offerings to preserve or increase its ownership interest up to 15.6% on a partially-diluted basis. The company also retains the right to nominate one person to Canada Nickel’s board of directors, though officials noted they have no immediate plans to exercise this option. According to the filing, Agnico Eagle may adjust its holdings in the future based on market conditions and strategic priorities.
