Sierra Ridge Advisor Group Jumps to Cetera in Pursuit of National Scale

Sierra Ridge Advisor Group, a California-based practice overseeing $2.1 billion in assets, has defected from LPL Financial to join the Cetera network. The move, occurring just 13 months after the firm’s previous transition, signals an aggressive push by co-founders James Slaughter and Giancarlo Foti to secure the infrastructure necessary for rapid national expansion.

The firm, which currently maintains six offices across California, Missouri, Oregon, and Wisconsin, brings approximately 40 affiliated advisors into Cetera’s Large Enterprise channel. Slaughter and Foti cited a need for a partner better equipped to support their specific growth trajectory, particularly regarding the development of an independent RIA on Cetera’s Blueprint platform. This system offers the modular infrastructure required to scale operations without the burden of building proprietary middle-office technology from scratch.

Beyond technical integration, the firm plans to tap into Cetera’s specialized growth tools, including the GrowthLine engine and the firm’s Regional Growth Team approach. For the co-founders, the decision hinged on a perceived lack of alignment at their former broker-dealer and a desire for deeper executive engagement. By leveraging Cetera’s resources, Sierra Ridge intends to replicate its support model—which handles compliance, staffing, and marketing—on a broader geographical scale, with new office openings planned for the Midwest and East Coast.
