Pronto Corporation Launches New Shuttle Service for Nebraska Huskers

University of Nebraska football fans now have a modern alternative to the long-standing Big Red Express, as San Jose-based Pronto Corporation introduces a demand-responsive shuttle system for Memorial Stadium home games, connecting local parking lots and five major Nebraska cities directly to the action on the field.

The transition replaces the city-run Big Red Express, which served the Lincoln community for over 45 years. Under the new arrangement, Pronto coordinates with StarTran and the City of Lincoln to provide a digital-first booking experience. Fans can secure guaranteed seats for specific game-day segments, selecting their preferred departure times through the iPronto portal. This shift addresses the unpredictability of special event demand, moving away from fixed-route constraints toward a model that dynamically adjusts vehicle capacity and routes based on real-time bookings.

Beyond local shuttles from four Lincoln satellite lots, the service extends to intercity routes covering Omaha, Kearney, Grand Island, Norfolk, and Columbus. According to Pronto CEO Kumar Shah, the initiative serves as a model for private-public cooperation, potentially relieving local transit agencies of the financial burden associated with operating special event services. The platform, which was rolled out in 15 days, aims to enhance the fan experience while setting a precedent for how universities and private operators can manage mass transportation for major sporting events.
