Factal Expands Risk Intelligence with Advance and Explorer Tools

Seattle-based risk intelligence platform Factal is broadening its scope beyond real-time incident reporting with two premium product launches. Factal Advance and Factal Explorer leverage the company’s verified journalism and AI-driven analysis to provide security teams with predictive insights and historical data access ahead of their autumn release.

Factal Advance shifts the focus from immediate reaction to proactive planning by alerting security teams to upcoming events, such as public gatherings or emerging geopolitical shifts, days before they occur. By surfacing editor-curated forecasts, the tool allows organizations to mitigate risks associated with severe weather or political instability before they manifest as operational threats.

Factal Explorer functions as a discovery engine, granting users access to an eight-year archive of verified risk events. The system provides direct answers to location-specific queries, such as proximity to wildfires or civil unrest, while citing original sources for every data point. Co-founder Cory Bergman emphasizes that the platform’s utility stems from its grounding in verified journalism, distinguishing it from generative AI models that rely on synthetic web data. To address security concerns, the company confirmed that user data remains isolated from its AI training models, ensuring that sensitive information regarding assets and personnel is never compromised.
