Logan Bus Deploys Cisco AI to Streamline NYC Student Transport Updates

Parents of the 30,000 students transported by Logan Bus daily will soon face fewer navigation menus and shorter wait times. The city’s largest private school bus provider is integrating Cisco-powered AI into its customer service lines, automating real-time status updates for routes across the five boroughs and Nassau County.

The new system links a parent’s caller ID directly to their child’s specific bus route, bypassing traditional phone prompts to provide immediate location data. By tapping into existing GPS tracking, the AI assistant addresses common inquiries regarding traffic, weather-related delays, or road closures before a live agent is even required. If human intervention remains necessary, agents gain instant access to the student's route details, reducing the friction typically associated with school transportation inquiries.

Logan Bus, which operates under the oversight of the New York City Department of Education, intends for this technology to complement the existing NYC School Bus App. While the current rollout focuses on internal fleet data, Chief Operating Officer Michael Tornabe confirmed that the next phase involves a direct API integration with Via. This upgrade will grant the AI assistant unified visibility into citywide GPS data, further refining the precision of arrival estimates. The company tested the platform throughout the summer and expects full implementation by the start of the September academic term.
