IKEA Targets European Consumers With Massive Price Reductions

IKEA is slashing prices by up to 25% on more than 1,500 products across Europe, a strategic move designed to attract cost-conscious shoppers still reeling from persistent inflation. The initiative represents a 1.2 billion euro commitment from the furniture giant to prioritize affordability over immediate profit margins.

The price adjustments take effect immediately, following a similar investment cycle last year aimed at stabilizing costs across global markets. Germany leads the regional effort with an average 20% reduction across its product catalog, while Italy sees an average decline of 22% on hundreds of items. In the U.K., the retailer is applying cuts to a broad range of home furnishings and accessories.

Beyond Europe, Ingka Group is allocating 70 million euros to mitigate inflationary and currency pressures in North American and Asian markets. Chief Executive Juvencio Maeztu characterized the investment as a long-term commitment to accessibility rather than a transient promotional campaign. Alongside these pricing shifts, the company continues to pivot its physical presence by opening smaller, downtown-focused stores to bring products closer to urban centers, moving away from its traditional reliance on large-format suburban outlets.
