Daisan Slips into Quarterly Red as Profits Vanish

A 94 million yen net loss has wiped out Daisan Co. Ltd.’s earnings for the first quarter ending July 20, marking a sharp reversal from the 104 million yen profit the Japanese firm reported during the same period last year despite a modest uptick in overall revenue.

Daisan Slips into Quarterly Red as Profits Vanish

The company’s latest financial disclosure reveals that revenue reached 2.75 billion yen, showing growth from the 2.60 billion yen recorded in 2025. However, this top-line progress failed to offset rising costs, dragging the firm into an operating loss of 90 million yen. By comparison, Daisan posted an operating profit of 42 million yen a year ago.

Pretax figures mirrored this downward trajectory, settling at a loss of 94 million yen against a previous profit of 69 million yen. Shareholders face a loss of 14.80 yen per share, a stark contrast to the 16.30 yen earnings per share seen in the prior fiscal cycle. These results, prepared under Japanese accounting standards, underscore a challenging start to the 2026 fiscal year for the Tokyo-listed entity.
