The report, which surveyed over 300 activities across 90 countries, highlights a widening gap between supply and demand. While applicant pools have surged, organizers struggle to balance exclusivity with accessibility. Paradoxically, the financial barrier to entry remains stagnant. Marina Herraiz, co-founder of Madrid-based Jade Peak, notes that nine out of ten U.S. national parks maintain entrance fees identical to 2020 levels, representing a significant price reduction when adjusted for inflation.
To navigate this bottleneck, experts suggest targeting events that reward persistence. Many organizers now implement loyalty-based systems where an applicant's chances of selection increase with each consecutive year of rejection. Meanwhile, Jade Peak has introduced a set of Event Organizer Guidelines, an open-source framework intended to establish equitable standards for future bookings. For those eyeing top-tier adventures, the strategy is shifting from mere enthusiasm to long-term logistical planning.
