Invesco’s Equal Weight ETF Hits $100 Billion Milestone

The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) has officially crossed the $100 billion mark in assets under management. This milestone underscores a growing investor appetite for strategies that bypass the traditional market-cap weighting of the S&P 500 in favor of a more balanced, sector-agnostic approach to U.S. large-cap equities.

Since its 2003 debut, the fund has carved out a unique position by assigning identical weight to every constituent in the index. This structure has gained significant traction as the broader S&P 500 has become increasingly dominated by a handful of mega-cap technology firms. By reducing reliance on these top-heavy performers, the strategy offers a hedge against concentration risk.

Brian Hartigan, Invesco’s Global Head of ETFs, noted that the growth of the fund highlights the enduring relevance of equal-weight investing as a portfolio stabilizer. The firm has since expanded this strategy, launching related products like the Invesco QQQ Equal Weight ETF and the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight Income Advantage ETF, the latter of which recently surpassed $1 billion in assets.
