Arch Lending Opens Credit Access to Tokenized Gold Holders

Investors holding PAX Gold and Tether Gold can now use their assets as collateral for loans, marking a shift for a sector previously reliant on decentralized protocols. Arch Lending, a platform operated by ChainFi, is introducing institutional-grade credit terms, allowing borrowers to secure capital without liquidating their precious metal positions.

The move targets a demographic that has historically avoided crypto-based lending, including family offices, wealth advisors, and commodities traders. Unlike decentralized finance platforms that offer variable rates, Arch Lending provides fixed 12-month terms with funding available in USD or USDC. Collateral is held by Anchorage Digital, a federally chartered bank, addressing concerns regarding custody and regulatory oversight that often deter traditional investors. The platform offers loan-to-value ratios of up to 75%, with interest rates starting at 9.25% APR for loans between $250,000 and $750,000.

This initiative follows a significant surge in demand for gold-backed credit. Earlier this year, Aave protocols saw full utilization of their debt ceiling for Tether Gold, signaling that the appetite for borrowing against tokenized bullion is high. Himanshu Sahay, co-founder and CTO of Arch Lending, noted that while tokenization modernized the underlying asset movement, credit access remains the primary driver for adoption. By integrating PAXG and XAUT alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP, Arch Lending aims to solidify its position as a multi-asset credit provider for institutional and private wealth holders.
