Gamers Rally to Raise $125,000 for Hospitalized Children

With September marking Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Starlight Children’s Foundation has kicked off its annual Stream For Starlight campaign. The initiative invites content creators to broadcast gaming, art, and cooking sessions to raise $125,000, funding gaming stations designed to distract young patients from the pain of hospital stays.

Since the campaign launched in 2019, more than 2,000 streamers have generated over $3 million for the charity. Last year alone, the community contributed $473,000, providing hospitals nationwide with specialized gaming equipment. These stations serve as more than simple entertainment; they act as vital tools that help children cope with anxiety and build trust with their medical care teams.

CEO Adam Garone describes the month as a vital opportunity to provide normalcy for families navigating the trauma of childhood cancer. Participants can join the cause by registering as creators, hosting their own fundraising streams, or donating directly through the foundation’s portal. The organization, founded in 1982, continues to supply these resources free of charge to its nationwide hospital network.
