Robert Weekes, managing partner of the firm’s London office, noted that Shah’s arrival arrives at a critical juncture for the global business environment. His expertise in complex commercial and investor-state disputes is expected to provide immediate depth to the firm’s existing cross-border counsel. Before his tenure at Morrison & Foerster, where he led the global arbitration practice and the Africa desk, Shah held a partnership at Kirkland & Ellis and practiced extensively in Kenya.

Meagan Bachman, chair of the International Dispute Resolution Group, highlighted that his established relationships across the MENA region and Africa align with the firm's strategic presence in hubs like Doha and Brussels. Shah’s portfolio includes advising on matters in Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, the UAE, and Kuwait, alongside specialized work regarding sanctions-related litigation. He views the move as an opportunity to integrate his practice into a firm with significant geographical synergies, aiming to provide clients with a more comprehensive, cross-disciplinary approach to international legal challenges.
