The Credit Tip Off Tour launches on September 14 at Southern Methodist University, with subsequent stops at Georgia State University, a Baton Rouge venue, and Florida Atlantic University. Each event centers on "Real Credit Chats," where O'Neal and Credit One Bank CMO Michael Coleman break down the fundamentals of responsible borrowing. To keep the subject matter accessible, the bank is utilizing its "Credit Wreckers" campaign, which personifies common financial pitfalls like missed payments and maxed-out balances as relatable characters.
The tour features a rotating roster of moderators, including sports creator Jenna Bandy, "The School of Hard Knocks" co-founder James Dumoulin, and media personality Brianna "Chickenfry" LaPaglia. According to the bank, the goal is to reach students early in their financial lives to prevent long-term credit damage. O'Neal, who has been transparent about his own financial learning curve as a young athlete, noted that he intends to help the next generation avoid the same mistakes he made. Produced by live-event experts Medium Rare, each free session is capped at 500 students per campus, blending professional financial guidance with the high-energy atmosphere of a DJ Diesel performance.
