The updated curriculum addresses the logistical constraints faced by modern healthcare professionals, who often balance clinical shifts with family commitments. A core component of this refresh is the ability for eligible registered nurses to waive up to 28 general education credits. To qualify, students must hold an active, unencumbered RN license and document at least six months of full-time employment or one year of part-time experience in a clinical role.
Beyond credit reductions, the program shifts toward a project-based practicum model. This change allows students to complete degree requirements within their current healthcare environments, eliminating the need for specific, rigid practicum hour logs while remaining fully compliant with CCNE accreditation standards. According to Dr. Kathy Kump, nursing dean for the program, the goal is to honor the expertise nurses already possess while streamlining the path to a baccalaureate degree. Eligible students may complete the degree in as little as 12 months, with additional financial incentives available through corporate alliance grants, which can bring estimated tuition costs to approximately $11,490.
