The Pleasanton-based company continues to pivot its enterprise strategy toward agentic HR, a shift aimed at moving departments beyond transactional management toward automated orchestration. According to David Wachtel, general manager of core HR products, the goal is to allow teams to manage talent and workplace experiences with increased speed by embedding AI directly into daily workflows.

Workday’s current architecture relies on a deterministic foundation that links people data with business processes. Key deployments include specialized AI agents for talent acquisition and payroll, alongside the Sana interface, which facilitates conversational interaction for employees handling tasks like benefits and onboarding. By automating repetitive administrative burdens, the firm intends to free HR professionals to focus on strategic initiatives like talent development and workforce planning, while utilizing its Developer Agent tools to maintain governance and security across enterprise deployments.
