Costa Rica Hosts Global Investors to Showcase Export Growth

Delegations from more than 40 countries have converged in San José for the second annual Costa Rica Trade & Investment Summit. The three-day event connects international buyers and investors with over 1,000 local firms, aiming to translate intensive business matchmaking into tangible expansions across the nation’s diverse economic sectors.

The summit, organized by the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica (PROCOMER), facilitates 3,600 tailored meetings focused on sectors ranging from medical devices and digital technologies to advanced manufacturing. By integrating site visits to research hubs and free trade zones, the program allows decision-makers to evaluate the country’s infrastructure and specialized talent pool in real time. PROCOMER CEO Laura López emphasized that the initiative aims to deepen the integration of local suppliers into global value chains, citing the country's capacity to support high-value operations.

Economic data underscores the urgency of these negotiations. Through July 2026, Costa Rican goods exports reached $13.821 billion, representing a 5% increase over the previous year. This growth spans both the Free Trade Zone Regime and the Definitive Regime, supported by a network of over 1,000 foreign direct investment companies already operating in the country. Following the inaugural 2025 event, PROCOMER tracked $33 million in closed business deals, a benchmark organizers intend to surpass as they showcase capabilities in semiconductors, corporate services, and sustainable agribusiness.
