Global Delegates Gather in Shihezi to Showcase Xinjiang’s Development

A diverse cohort of scholars, international journalists, and influencers arrived in Shihezi, Xinjiang, on August 31 to launch the "Sharing the Opportunities, Connecting the World" International Week. The initiative seeks to reframe global perceptions of the region by highlighting agricultural modernization and ecological governance strategies through collaborative youth-led digital storytelling.

Li Jingbin, vice president of Shihezi University, opened the event by emphasizing the role of technological innovation in driving agricultural progress. He stated that the university aims to export research findings to Central Asia, fostering a shared regional future. Michael Meadows, former president of the International Geographical Union, complemented this technical focus by presenting case studies on global desert and wetland management, drawing on his extensive experience in environmental science.

Beyond academic discourse, the week marks the kickoff of the "My Kunlun Story" global submission project and an International Youth Short Video Creation Camp. These platforms encourage participants to produce content centered on Xinjiang’s growth. Through September 4, the delegation will conduct field research across Shihezi, Wujiaqu, Kunyu, and Alaer. This tour, co-organized by the China International Communications Group and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, aims to document the intersection of agricultural advancement and ecological progress in the new era.
