Cox Automotive Integrates Nova Credit to Automate Auto Lending

As U.S. auto lenders scramble to capture a shrinking pool of qualified buyers in a 15.7 million-unit market, Cox Automotive is embedding Nova Credit’s Income Navigator directly into its Dealertrack platform. The move aims to replace manual pay-stub verification with real-time bank and payroll data to accelerate funding and curb fraud.

The integration allows lenders to automate income verification at the point of sale, eliminating the need for underwriters to manually calculate net-to-gross income from uploaded documents. By shifting to automated cash flow intelligence, Cox Automotive seeks to reduce the operational friction that often stalls loan approvals. Andy Mayers, a lender solutions strategist at the company, noted that the partnership is a critical step toward achieving a fully automated origination process.

Westlake Financial is among the first to adopt the technology, aiming to refine its risk assessment for near-prime and thin-file borrowers. Beyond immediate income verification, the companies are exploring future integrations with Nova Credit’s Cash Atlas, a tool designed to analyze bank transaction data for residual income and cash volatility. This expansion would allow lenders to price loans based on a consumer’s actual ability to pay rather than traditional credit bands, potentially broadening the base of approved applicants without increasing risk exposure.
