Edizione Launches 21 NEXT as New European Alternative Asset Platform

After securing regulatory approval from European and Italian authorities, the investment firms 21 Invest and 21 Tages have officially merged to form 21 NEXT. The new platform, backed by industrial holding group Edizione, aims to scale its current €3 billion in assets under management to over €10 billion.

The newly minted entity combines the distinct portfolios of its founding firms, housing 11 active funds managed by a team of more than 100 professionals. Headed by Chairman Alessandro Benetton and CEO Panfilo Tarantelli, the group is structured with a 55% stake held by Edizione, while the remaining 45% belongs to the founders and senior management. To fuel future growth, Edizione has committed €500 million in seed capital.

21 NEXT operates across four primary sectors: private equity, energy transition, infrastructure, and private debt. Its private equity arm leverages 35 years of experience from 21 Invest, which has historically focused on mid-sized European companies. Simultaneously, the platform is expanding its energy transition footprint, building on a portfolio of 500 photovoltaic plants and approximately 1 GW of installed capacity. With offices in Treviso, Milan, and Paris, the firm plans to deploy a new pan-European fund targeting €800 million in commitments for lower mid-market buyouts, alongside a €500 million infrastructure vehicle dubbed Tages Infra Plus.
