Investors Target Cogent Communications in Securities Fraud Class Action

Subsequent quarterly reports showed consistent failures to meet growth targets for wavelength connections. By November 2025, the company slashed its quarterly dividend by 98%, effectively ending a 52-quarter streak of dividend growth and causing a 56% decline in share value over the following week. The downward trend continued into 2026, culminating in a May disclosure where CEO David Schaeffer admitted that customers were delaying acceptance of provisioned wavelengths, leading to a further 29% drop in stock price.
