The centerpiece of this release is the SS9WR Snare Stand, which debuts the exclusive Flip Grip™ basket. This mechanism allows for rapid accommodation of drums ranging from 10 to 14 inches in diameter while maintaining structural stability. Beyond this flagship model, the lineup spans six updated snare stands and eight upgraded cymbal hardware components, including the new SS7S low-positioned stand, the QRN8 Quick Release Nut, and the SECW8 Sound Enhancement Cymbal Washer.
Engineers focused on tactile improvements, replacing traditional gear-based adjustments with a step-free tilter for precise positioning. The hardware also incorporates a new rubber compound in the snare baskets designed to dampen unwanted vibration, ensuring the stand does not choke the drum’s natural tone. According to Jeff Shipley, director of marketing for drums at Yamaha, these design choices prioritize player feedback over industry trends, drawing on engineering expertise shared with Yamaha Motorsports to ensure durability under the stress of professional touring. The full range of equipment is currently available through authorized dealers nationwide.
