Hillman served as Canada’s top envoy in Washington from 2020 to 2026, a term defined by the pandemic and shifts across three different U.S. administrations. Her work during the implementation of the USMCA trade agreement established her as a central figure in cross-border negotiations. CABC CEO Beth Burke noted that Hillman’s institutional memory and deep network across both capitals make her a vital addition to the organization’s leadership.

Beyond her diplomatic tenure, Hillman brings extensive legal experience, including past work as a senior legal advisor to the World Trade Organization. She currently holds a position as a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. As an advisor to the council, she will provide strategic guidance to a membership base that represents nearly $6 trillion in annual revenue and 11.6 million employees.
