This latest performance represents an 11% increase over the first quarter of 2026, driven primarily by sustained capital expenditure in advanced manufacturing capacity. According to SEMI, the industry association tracking the supply chain, the growth is widespread across Asia, North America, and Europe, signaling a synchronized global effort to build out AI-ready facilities.

SEMI President and CEO Ajit Manocha noted that these figures underscore the critical role of equipment manufacturers in enabling the current wave of AI-driven innovation. The report, compiled alongside the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan, tracks monthly billings across seven regions and more than 22 market segments, confirming that the current investment climate remains focused on high-capacity chip production.
