When B'Day first arrived in September 2006, it signaled a shift in Beyoncé’s career as she asserted total creative control over the writing, production, and visual direction of her music. Recorded in a rapid two-week session, the album was designed to balance the percussive, high-energy demands of hip-hop with the melodic sensibilities of classic R&B. This anniversary project revisits that era, upgrading the original 35mm music videos to 4K and incorporating archival photography captured in New Orleans—a city that served as a thematic touchstone for her at the time.

The collection also integrates new recordings that expand the album’s cultural reach. Among the most notable additions is a duet with the late Selena Quintanilla, titled Irreemplazable (Como La Flor), which received rare approval from the late star's estate. Complementing this is a collaboration with Colombian artist Maluma on Cuerpo Tumbao, a track that samples Afro-Cuban icon Celia Cruz. Beyond the new features, the deluxe physical editions include long-sought tracks such as My First Time, originally recorded for her debut, and B-sides like Lost Yo Mind and Creole, packaged alongside a 60-page commemorative booklet.
