Withings brings AI-powered heart and lung analysis to BeamO device

Withings is expanding the capabilities of its BeamO health monitor with the launch of StethO Sense, an AI-driven service designed to provide on-demand analysis of heart and lung sounds. Starting October 1, 2026, the feature will integrate into the Withings+ subscription tier to help families track physiological changes from home.

The new service utilizes technology from eMurmur and StethoMe to process recordings captured by the BeamO device, which features an integrated digital stethoscope. By following a guided protocol within the app, users can record heart sounds at four standard positions or lung sounds at up to eight locations. The system then delivers analytical results within seconds, offering insights into heart murmurs and respiratory patterns.

Livia Robic, product manager for BeamO, noted that the tool is intended to provide families with a longitudinal record of health data to share during medical consultations. While the eMurmur Heart AI is FDA-cleared for detecting abnormal murmurs with approximately 90% sensitivity and specificity, the company emphasizes that these results are not diagnostic. The StethoMe-powered Breathing Index, which provides a 0–100 score based on respiratory quality, is offered in the United States as a general wellness feature. The service will also be available for professional use through BeamO Pro to assist clinicians in care settings.
