Baidu Shares Join Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect

Starting September 7, 2026, Baidu’s Class A ordinary shares will officially join the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect program. This inclusion grants investors in the Chinese Mainland direct access to trading the company’s Hong Kong-listed stock, a move designed to broaden the tech giant’s investor base and boost market liquidity.

The decision follows an official notice issued by the Shanghai Stock Exchange on September 4, confirming the adjustment of eligible stocks within the cross-border trading link. By integrating into this program, Baidu expects to facilitate greater capital flow between the two financial hubs, allowing mainland participants to trade its shares alongside existing international investors.

This development strengthens the bridge between the Shanghai and Hong Kong exchanges, which has long served as a key mechanism for two-way market access. For Baidu, the transition represents a strategic effort to integrate its equity structure more deeply into domestic Chinese markets while maintaining its dual-listing presence on the HKEX and Nasdaq.
