TrustKernel Launches PlugClaw: A USB-C Stick That Offloads AI Agents

San Francisco-based TrustKernel has begun global shipments of PlugClaw, a thumb-sized computer designed to host AI agents independently of a user’s primary hardware. By running agents on its own encrypted system, the device aims to eliminate the security risks associated with granting AI broad permissions on personal phones or laptops.

PlugClaw functions as a self-contained workstation housed within a 15-gram USB-C stick. It features a MediaTek Helio G80 processor, up to 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of encrypted storage. When connected to a host device—be it a Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, or Android handset—the host serves strictly as a display and input interface. The AI agent, its credentials, and all active applications execute entirely within PlugClaw’s privacy-hardened operating system, PlugOS.

This architecture creates a physical security boundary, ensuring that autonomous agents cannot access the host device's local files, contacts, or system-level settings. The agent interacts with applications through a GUI-based framework, mimicking human input to perform tasks like file organization, message drafting, and multi-step workflows. For cloud-based tasks, the device utilizes a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) to ensure that sensitive data remains encrypted even during remote processing.

Retailing from US$149, the hardware arrives without a mandatory subscription, allowing users to leverage pre-installed models or integrate their own via API keys. TrustKernel is also providing free confidential-model inference on its newly deployed server infrastructure to encourage secure, private AI adoption.
