Gemmy Debuts Animatronic Candy-Serving Halloween Decor

Standing three feet tall, new animatronic figures from Gemmy Industries aim to turn the mundane task of handing out candy into a jump-scare experience. The line features two distinct characters equipped with motion sensors and built-in bowls, designed to greet trick-or-treaters at porches or entryways with both treats and frights.

The collection includes a Mummy and a Pumpkin Skeleton, both available at The Home Depot. The Mummy character remains hunched until sound or motion activation triggers a pop-up movement, accompanied by glowing red eyes and scripted spooky dialogue. Meanwhile, the Pumpkin Skeleton offers a more interactive encounter: its head rotates and its hand drops toward the candy bowl specifically as visitors reach for a treat, adding a physical element to the jump scare.

These pieces serve a dual purpose as both immersive holiday decor and functional candy stations. By blending traditional animatronic technology with practical utility, Gemmy is targeting homeowners looking to modernize their seasonal displays. Each character is built for indoor or porch use, prioritizing accessibility for those who want to automate their Halloween greeting without the complexity of larger, full-scale installations.
