Simultaneously, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization reported that its food price index climbed 1.9% to 133.3 points last month. The organization warns that further instability is likely, as the emerging El Nino weather pattern threatens to exacerbate global crop scarcity and drive food costs higher.
