Kahn Swick & Foti Launches Investigation into Freeport-McMoRan Board

The law firm Kahn Swick & Foti has opened an investigation into Freeport-McMoRan Inc. following a fatal mud rush incident at the company’s Grasberg Block Cave mine in Indonesia. The inquiry centers on whether the mining giant’s officers and directors breached their fiduciary duties or violated federal securities laws during the period.

The legal scrutiny follows a September 2025 disclosure by the company confirming that two team members died in a mud rush at the Indonesian site earlier that month. Freeport-McMoRan is already defending a separate ongoing securities class action lawsuit, which alleges that the company failed to disclose critical information to investors during the relevant period.

Kahn Swick & Foti, led by former Louisiana Attorney General Charles C. Foti, Jr., is now examining whether corporate leadership failed in their obligations to shareholders. The firm is currently soliciting information from long-term stockholders to determine if further legal action is warranted. Shareholders seeking to discuss their rights or contribute to the investigation can contact managing partner Lewis Kahn via the firm’s website or by telephone.
