Barcelona’s Gran Via venue will host the 2026 Smart City Expo World Congress from November 3 to 5, drawing 25,000 attendees to address the global housing crisis. The congress gathers 1,000 cities and 600 speakers to dissect seven core tracks, ranging from artificial intelligence and digital transformation to green energy and the blue economy. Notable speakers include futurist Nikolas Badminton and Women in Tech Global founder Ayumi Moore Aoki, who will emphasize how inclusive leadership and strategic foresight drive urban innovation. The event also features contributions from experts representing UN Women, the ITU, and the Women’s Economic Forum.

A major addition this year is the inaugural HOWS Barcelona summit. This dedicated forum targets the residential paradigm, focusing on land policy, housing regulation, and the reuse of existing building stock. Alongside the conference sessions, the exhibition floor showcases industry leaders such as Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Dell Technologies. The debut of the "Terra50" display will highlight the most promising global sustainability solutions. The congress runs concurrently with the Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress and the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress, cementing the city's role as a nexus for international urban development.
