Twelve days before the public opening, the 18th Lyon Biennale – Contemporary Art is preparing for two days of professional previews starting September 17, 2026. The event, which spans 11 venues across the city, invites collectors and artists to explore the theme "To pass from one dream to another."

The upcoming edition, running from September 19 through December 13, 2026, features 120 artists and 400 works integrated into the city’s urban fabric. Under the artistic direction of Isabelle Bertolotti and curator Catherine Nichols, the Biennale draws inspiration from Lyon's historic traboules—hidden passageways that connect disparate spaces—to challenge how visitors perceive their environment. The exhibition itinerary moves beyond traditional galleries, utilizing industrial sites like Les Grandes Locos, heritage locations, a metro station, and even a car park.

Professional accreditation remains open until September 16, offering participants exclusive access to preview days and networking sessions designed to foster dialogue within the international art community. The event aims to examine the economies that govern contemporary life, from material resources to intangible exchanges. As the city transforms into a expansive exhibition space, organizers hope to turn the urban landscape into a site of collective engagement, reaffirming Lyon’s role as a primary hub for global contemporary art.
