The report highlights a significant surge in professional adoption, particularly within the Industrial IoT sector, where 48% of developers in China leverage cloud native tools, outpacing the 42% global average. Among backend developers under the age of 25, the adoption rate has climbed to 58%, signaling that containerization and orchestration are now foundational to the country’s next generation of software engineering.
As AI workloads mature, the infrastructure requirements change. Teams are moving beyond basic data pipelines toward complex production environments that rely on service meshes, chaos engineering, and multicluster management to maintain resilience. Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of the CNCF, noted that these technical challenges—such as isolation and observability—mirror the problems cloud native has solved for years. By bridging these communities, China is positioning itself to build an open AI stack capable of running anywhere. This trend is further supported by a rise in platform engineering, with 88% of backend developers now utilizing some form of infrastructure standardization to manage their increasingly complex environments.
