The conference marks a strategic shift for the Beijing-based technology firm, which now derives half of its annual revenue from international markets. By aligning its forum with the IFA trade show, BOE aims to tighten its integration with European supply chains. The LIGHT initiative—an acronym focusing on low-power tech, global service, and high-performance hardware—serves as the blueprint for its regional expansion, targeting sectors ranging from smart automotive dimming sunroofs to advanced MLED and e-paper applications.
BOE Chief Strategy Officer Qi Zheng emphasized that the company intends to deepen joint development efforts, a sentiment echoed by IFA CEO Leif Lindner, who noted the necessity of having such technological leadership present among Berlin’s industry decision-makers. To sustain this trajectory, the company leverages an extensive R&D pipeline that includes over 100,000 patent applications and an annual investment of 7% of its revenue. Through its German subsidiary, the firm currently supports more than 150 European clients, a footprint it expects to expand alongside partners like Barco, Vusion, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit.
