Following a June authorization from the Iowa Utilities Commission, NextEra Energy continues to work through a series of inspections and licensing requirements under the oversight of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy James P. Danly framed the development as a critical component of the administration's broader push to increase baseload generation and reindustrialize the domestic energy sector.
