Apica Integrates AI-Driven Control into Telemetry Infrastructure

As enterprises grapple with a 9.5x surge in telemetry data driven by autonomous agents, Apica is shifting the management burden from manual scripting to natural language. The company’s Ascent 3.0 update introduces persistent AI assistance and direct operational control, while mandating human oversight for all critical infrastructure modifications.

The core of the update, a new AI assistant named Venn, is now embedded across the Flow, Observe, and Fleet product lines. It allows engineering teams to author pipeline rules, manage agents, and configure dashboards through conversational prompts. To prevent unauthorized or destructive changes, the system enforces a mandatory human review step before any action that could materially alter configuration or delete data streams is executed.

For organizations already invested in their own AI ecosystems, Apica has introduced a built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. This allows users to connect external AI tools directly to the Ascent platform for managing pipelines, alerts, and forwarders without the need to route sensitive telemetry data through third-party vendors. The company emphasizes that this "bring your own AI" approach ensures data sovereignty, keeping ownership firmly in the hands of the customer.

Performance gains are also a central focus of the release. A new flow-only processing mode bypasses Lake storage overhead, enabling telemetry to move up to 10x faster than previous iterations. According to CPTO Andi Mann, these features are designed to handle the massive volumes of data generated by modern AI agents without forcing enterprises to sacrifice control or vendor neutrality. Ascent 3.0 is available immediately within existing subscription tiers.
