Gibbons steps into the role at a pivotal moment for the audio giant, which currently reaches approximately 255 million monthly listeners. His mandate covers the evolution of in-car experiences, the integration of artificial intelligence for personalized discovery, and the expansion of hybrid satellite-and-IP services. Witz pointed to his instrumental work on the SiriusXM with 360L rollout as evidence of his readiness to lead the company’s next phase of technical innovation.
Having joined the organization in 2000—years before its first satellite launch—Gibbons has held leadership positions spanning engineering, content technology, and strategic partnerships. He previously founded the company’s first streaming organization and led the automotive division, where he managed relationships with major vehicle manufacturers. He now joins the Executive Leadership Team to harmonize these disparate assets, aiming to bridge the gap between broadcast reliability and the flexibility of modern streaming.
