Hong Kong Jockey Club Marks Decade of Global Philanthropy at PBC Forum

The Hong Kong Jockey Club concluded its 10th anniversary PBC forum at the West Kowloon Cultural District today, bringing together over 2,000 delegates and 80 speakers. Under the theme "Leaping for Impact," the two-day summit centered on the evolving role of cross-sector collaboration in addressing global social challenges.

The event, hosted by the Club’s Charities Trust and the Institute of Philanthropy, served as a capstone for a decade of dialogue. Discussions spanned critical topics including urban poverty, climate resilience, and educational equity. A highlight of the final day included an intergenerational plenary moderated by Yao Ming, which explored how athletes can pivot from competitive sports to leadership in community development.

Beyond dialogue, the forum yielded practical outcomes, including a memorandum of understanding between the Club and Cambodia’s Ministry of Education to advance early childhood development. Data released during the sessions underscored the scale of the sector’s reach; a report from The Bridgespan Group identified the Hong Kong Jockey Club as the largest corporate donor in Asia, with annual donations averaging US$774 million between 2020 and 2024. As the forum concluded with a gala dinner at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, speakers emphasized that the next phase of philanthropy requires disciplined, long-term capacity building to navigate the complexities of the coming decade.
