Federal Regulators Greenlight American Battery Lithium Project in Nevada

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has formally accepted American Battery Technology’s mining and refinery proposal, clearing a path for extraction on 10,000 acres of public land in central Nevada. This milestone marks the end of a four-year development phase focused on domestic lithium production for the tech and energy sectors.

The project is now slated for streamlined federal permitting, a designation intended to accelerate the supply of critical minerals for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and the battery storage systems powering data centers and artificial intelligence. Having demonstrated its proprietary technology for producing high-purity lithium hydroxide, the company must now navigate the next phase of the federal review process.

Management expects to publish a notice of intent in the Federal Register, which will trigger the preparation of a formal environmental impact statement. As the proposal moves through remaining federal, state, and local regulatory hurdles, the company intends to maintain its engagement with regional stakeholders to ensure the project meets all necessary environmental and operational standards.
