Additionally, the company completed a $3.7 million filter renovation in 2024, which also added protective housing for the sedimentation and flocculation basins.

John Killips, Senior Director of Engineering for Illinois American Water, noted that the company has directed $26.5 million into the Streator plant and its distribution network over the past five years. Following the site tour, Senator Balkema expressed confidence in the current trajectory of regional infrastructure, citing the necessity of these upgrades to meet evolving drinking water regulations. Representative Bunting echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of maintaining aging systems to support community utility needs.
