Horizon Petroleum Advances Lachowice 7 Well to Production Testing

Horizon Petroleum has finished workover operations at its Lachowice 7 well in southern Poland, marking a transition to stimulation and testing. With the new completion assembly installed, the company plans to begin acid stimulation by September 23 to evaluate the reservoir's capacity for future commercial production.

The workover, executed by Horizon’s subsidiary Energia Karpaty Zachodnie, involved perforating 35 metres of reservoir across a 58-metre interval. This scope included 14 metres of previously untouched rock, providing fresh access to the formation. During the process, the team encountered significant gas kicks and lost roughly 3,500 barrels of completion fluid, which the company interprets as strong evidence of open fracture connectivity and high permeability within the carbonate reservoir.

Exalo is scheduled to mobilize stimulation equipment to the site around September 18. This upcoming phase aims to re-establish deliverability in a well that historically achieved flow rates of up to 8.9 MMcf/d under 1999 testing conditions. By applying modern diverted acid stimulation, Horizon intends to assess whether the well can sustain commercial-scale output. CEO David Winter noted that the team successfully navigated challenging downhole conditions during the workover, setting the stage for these critical performance evaluations.
