IDrive Expands Microsoft 365 Security with Entra ID Backup

Los Angeles-based cloud provider IDrive has integrated Microsoft Entra ID backup into its existing Microsoft 365 protection suite, aiming to shield organizations from identity management failures. The new tool guards against accidental deletions and misconfigurations that threaten to disrupt access to critical business resources and administrative configurations.

Microsoft Entra ID functions as the central control plane for workforce identities and application access, yet native recovery tools often fall short when critical objects—such as roles, policies, or administrative units—are modified or erased. IDrive’s new capability targets this vulnerability by automating snapshots of users, groups, application registrations, and BitLocker recovery keys. By storing these settings in an encrypted cloud environment, administrators can perform granular or bulk restores to a known-good state, bypassing the need for manual reconstruction during a security incident.

Beyond simple restoration, the platform offers change tracking to help IT teams pinpoint exactly when and how unauthorized alterations occurred. CEO Raghu Kulkarni noted that extending protection to the identity layer is essential for maintaining continuity across digital environments. The service, which integrates into the existing IDrive management console, is now available for $10 per seat annually with unlimited storage. This addition complements the company’s existing support for OneDrive, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams, centralizing data protection for Microsoft 365 users.
