EUCLYD Secures Over €200 Million to Overhaul AI Infrastructure

Eindhoven-based semiconductor startup EUCLYD has closed a Series A funding round exceeding €200 million, aiming to dismantle the efficiency barriers currently throttling AI development. The capital injection arrives alongside the appointment of former ASML chief Peter Wennink as Chairman, signaling a major push to industrialize new AI hardware architectures.

The financing round was co-led by Samsung, Somerset Capital Partners, Innovation Industries, and the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund. Additional backing came from EIFO, imec.xpand, the Brabant Development Agency, and Quadri. By leveraging the deep semiconductor ecosystem at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, founders Bernardo Kastrup and Atul Sinha seek to move beyond standard GPU reliance. Their strategy centers on the development of 'craftwerk,' an agentic AI silicon, and the 'craftwerk station,' a low-power exascale factory designed to drive down the cost per token.

Scaling European Hardware

For industry veterans like Peter Wennink, the challenge lies in translating European engineering depth into a globally competitive platform. The company’s roadmap focuses on processor-memory co-design and system-level optimizations that address the power and bandwidth constraints inherent in current foundation model deployments. With the new funding, EUCLYD plans to accelerate its silicon roadmap and expand its engineering team to prepare for commercial deployment across sovereign, enterprise, and hyperscale AI markets.
