UK regulator bans Kingsley Solicitors owner over £28 million theft

Over £28 million in client funds vanished from Kingsley Solicitors Limited accounts between April 2019 and July 2020, prompting the Financial Conduct Authority to permanently ban former owner Nurul Miah from the financial services industry for his role in the unauthorized transfers.

The FCA determined that Miah, who served as the firm’s non-legal manager, acted dishonestly by facilitating these withdrawals without client permission. This regulatory action follows a damning investigation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, which uncovered that £10 million of the missing capital was diverted directly for Miah’s personal benefit.

Therese Chambers, the FCA’s executive director of enforcement and market oversight, stated that the ban is necessary to protect consumers and preserve integrity within the financial system. Miah previously faced the largest fine in the history of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, totaling nearly £4 million for the breaches identified last year. Efforts to reach Miah for comment were unsuccessful, and Kingsley Solicitors has remained silent regarding the findings.
